#zokidor wedding prelude

#zokidor wedding ceremony (thank you April Joy!)

Any and all information you may ever need about life, love and the pursuit of joy may be contained within the pages of our wedding web site. Happy hunting!

we have made the music from dinner available for download here: cocktails & interludes

mike & zoki

& emma

Adults playing dodgeball. Seriously? Well, if it weren’t for the whimsy of this game, and its built-in social component, we, two midwest transplants, may have never met.

Zoki was born in West Allis Memorial, the closest hospital to where Mike grew up. It took almost 35 years, 7 cities and more than 2000 miles for our paths to finally cross.

Currently residing in Glendale, CA, Zoki is a financial consultant working in the non-profit sector, helping developers fund low income housing, and Mike is an editor in the film and television industry.

Our other persuits (dodgeball notwithstanding) include volunteering with dog rescue Angel City Pit Bulls. Zoki plays soccer twice a week, and Mike plays baseball on Sundays. We also spoil the heck out of our Wienerbull Terrier, Emma. (We made that breed up. She is 50% American Bulldog, 25% Dachshund and 25% Yorkshire Terrier)

the maids (as narrated by Zoki)

Mira will forever be my baby sister, even though she is much taller and, technically, an adult. 10 years apart in age, we shared a room as kids, which meant that I had a real issue with toddler Mira invading my precious teenage Zoki privacy. Now, we share an intimacy that sisters only know. Mira is awesomely organized and my trustworthy Maid-of-Honor.

Sandi (aka Aleks) and I grew up so close in age that everyone thought we were twins. We did everything together - from baths to an epic trip to Australia when we were in elementary school. I was always the bossy big sister telling everyone what she wanted and needed, in return she ensured I was shorter than her. Thus is the balance of sisterhood. Sandi is the phenomenal Super Mom of Greta (flower girl), Eli (ring bearer) and Baby TIll #3 on the way.

Sonja is our fourth Stancevic sister, even though she's our cousin. We grew up less than two miles from each other in Milwaukee. Sonja is remarkably upbeat - she is so energetic, the whole room gets a little more fun when she enters. Watch out world if she grabs a mic and starts singing! Sonja and I share a mutual love and obsession with our own and each others dogs - some might think it is unhealthy, but we see no issues here.

Sarah and I have known each other since the 6th grade - outside of my family, she is the person I've known the longest in my life. Sarah is incredibly thoughtful - she always remembers birthdays and plans awesome get-togethers. Sarah was the first of my friends to get her license and a car, which meant that she served as our chauffeur in high school - keeping us all together and making sure we all got everywhere we needed to be on time. It is no surprise that to this day Sarah is the one that keeps us all connected, and serves as a touchstone.

Kirsten and I have known each other since the 9th grade. We have birthdays one week apart, and bonded over our shared Capricorn qualities, which sustains our friendship today. Kirsten picked me up for school in our senior year, and I always made her late. After school, we would sit on her trunk in the parking lot and listen to the Beastie Boys. Kirsten is impossibly chic - she is always ahead of the curve. She leads the fabulous life of a freelance writer, traveling around the world for work.

Meredith and I met our senior year of High School when we were ravers, but we don't talk about that anymore. Connected by music, smarts, and a sense of adventure, Meredith and I have remained friends throughout the years. Meredith is exceptionally ambitious and I am always excited to hear about her plans and projects. She constantly motivates me to strive for more in my life.

the men (as narrated by Mike)

Josh and I met in Denver while counting down the days to the start of film school in Vancouver. What started as polar opposites, quickly grew into a lifelong friendship. In baseball terms, this guy is my backstop. He’s always been there to keep me from falling, while making sure I toed the edge. Josh is ordained in Wisconsin, and will be officiating the ceremony.

Kevin and I met in college at UW Madison. We honed our roadtripping skills with trips to Tennessee, Florida and California while sorting out what the heck we were going to do with our lives. I once carried Kevin and his gear down the hill at Tyrol Basin after his arm had an ugly run in with a picnic table.

It was during my worst times that Zwan helped helped me see the good in life. He is a man that truly understands what it means to be a friend. We've played so much dodgeball together that people started to call us the "cutest couple in WDS." That is, until I met Zoki, and fixed that problem.

Seth is the best neighbor I ever had; even if he did live on the bad side of the tracks in Long Beach. His penchant for laughter is contagious, and he is chock full of amazing ideas after 2am.

I knew Reggie and I would be lifelong pals when he passed me a lewd note in 7th grade. Through all the ebbs and flows of the last 25ish years, Reggie has been my Milwaukee stanchion. He’s my goto every time I come home.

Even if Emma is still trying to find reasons to like Gregg, I’ve got a list for days. He’s kind of my doppleganger, but much nicer and better looking. Buy him a beer. He’d really like that a lot.

rings & flowers

Greta and Eli are our very important flower girl and ring bearer. Greta loves her Nani (blanket) and twirling and dancing. Eli loves snuggling and splashing in the bathtub. They are wonderfully cute and fun and we hope they delight you in their role in our wedding.

We would also like to thank the following for their talent and generosity in our pursuit of joy - and a dose of sanity - in our wedding planning.

Sarah Hamilton (Zoki's wedding dress)
Aleksandra Stancevic - Entropy Design Lab (Invite design and printing)
Codin Pangell (Wedding website)
